For World AIDS day, Rihanna joined Prince Harry in Barbados to advocate on behalf of the disease and prevent its spread.

The two public figures visited the HIV drop-in center and got their fingers pricked for the tested.

Rihanna joked with Prince Harry, as he had said that the whole process was painful. But Rihanna was pleased, that she hardly even felt the prick which drew blood for testing.

Harry was at the center to tell the public that getting tested was a simple process and that there are antiretroviral medications, if necessary to combat the virus. He said that the drugs now available are very effective and freely available.

Prince Harry has been championing on behalf of the HIV and AIDS community, just like his mother Princess Diana. Harry also organized a charity concert with the band Coldplay, to raise money for “Sentebale”. This is a charity that he founded to help children with HIV and AIDS in South Africa.

He then worked with Sir Elton John in July for the International AIDS Conference in South Africa. At the event, he said that it is important that young people do not feel shame for asking for an HIV test. He also added that children with the disease should be able to live normal lives with their friends and family. He closed his speech by saying that there is a great barrier to reducing the spread of this disease and this is the stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and Aids.
