Given his involvement, it looks like this project which has been trying to get off the ground since 2010, will finally a new cast and director and most definitely, a fresh start.

Being a kid’s show that ran from 1983 to 1987 in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada as well, this show, much like The Muppets, was created by Jim Henson.

The original series was set in a cave where three species of humanoids lived: the Fraggles, Doozers and Gorgs and where the first species were the show’s protagonists.

The series itself was placed within a cave where the other two species, namely the Doozers were tiny creatures resembled tiny construction workers while the Gorgs were the largest of the lot and considered the Fraggles as pests.

This film has been given the go ahead given the success that the 2011 The Muppets movie has had and which was based on yet another show by Jim Henson. The Muppets movie introduced a whole new generation to Kermit the Frog, Little Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear while also winning the 2012 Oscar for Best Song. This led to another sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, also hit cinemas in 2014.

What remains to be seen is which role Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to take as that hasn’t been made clear as yet. This new version of Fraggle Rock is being produced by The Henson Co and the production company New Regency.
