Ashton Kutcher on Gushing about Love on Twitter

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Thursday 2 December 2010 7:21 am

Ashton Kutcher thinks everyone would love to be adored publicly, such as in websites like Twitter, and that’s precisely why he’s doing it, to his lovely wife Demi Moore. Ashton, a self-confessed addict of Twitter, may as well be considered a modern-day, techie Romeo, utilizing social networking sites like Twitter to woo Demi Moore over and over. In fact, he wrote an essay for Harper’s Bazaar’s January issue, on his fondness for flirting on the Web.

The thirty-two year old actor writes that sending sweet messages over on Facebook and posting affectionate words on Twitter can be a lot of fun, because it’s not typical. He compared the act of online flirting to sending flowers at a girl’s office. Everyone sees and the girl is wooed and adored publicly, and everyone likes that, he thinks.

So, is he all for the great big Web? Ashton Kutcher, in his online essay, did give out a warning: Anything posted on the web gets seen by everyone – there are some things you post, and can’t hide from people. It’ll be all over. Kutcher has posted revealing pictures of his 48-year old wife online.

The actor entitled his essay “Has Texting Killed Romance?”, stated that professing love on the Web should never substitute personal, more old-fashioned ways of showing affection. According to the star, no amount of text can replace a person when he or she is needed by that special someone, and that a loving touch, not text, is the only thing that will work for a anyone who’s hurting or sad.

Perhaps Jessica Simpson could share a few tips and tricks to celebrities like her who have started their own line of designer products. The thirty-year old actress made about $750 million sales from her product line just this year. Jennifer Lopez and Madonna, who also have their own fashion line, could certainly learn a thing or two from Simpson.

Jessica Simpson’s brand features more than twenty fashion categories. Her brand also carries shoes, swimwear, watches, accessories, jeans and even perfume. What could be her secret? Vince Camuto who is both founder and CEO of Camuto Group (the star’s licensee) told WWD that her image makes her the perfect style icon for many women. Simpson apparently projects the girl-next-door attitude, but her products are absolutely top class.

The actress may well be on her way to become Hollywood’s fashion powerhouse with her almost-billion sales this year. Her fan base which is regularly updated is her tool in getting sales for her retail. What makes Jessica Simpson’s brand stay high on the list of consumers? CEO of Jeanswear for The Jones Group, Jack Gross, reveals that Simpson’s brand is more sustainable. Gross’s company licenses the 30-year old’s denims.

SO what does 2011 have in store for the billion dollar actress-turned-designer? The fashion line it seems, will see a lot of expansion. Simpson is working on releasing her first ever sportswear line that should be out by autumn 2011. The line shall feature dresses, jackets and dresses that are priced well under a hundred and fifty dollars.

Streaming Radio for Favorite Music

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Sunday 21 November 2010 8:38 am

Streaming is the current method of getting connected to the world through video or radio streaming. The word streaming mainly describes the process of delivering the method through a medium rather than describing the medium itself; therefore, streaming simply means delivering a media. Streaming radio station on the internet is easy. With internet radios, any person can stream in different audio formats that include Ogg Vorbis, RealAudio, MP3, Windows Media Audio and so on. All audio data is incessantly transmitted over local network or internet.

In radio streaming, channels are named or classified into genres. One of the favorite picks is the top 40 music. Although this is not a music genre per se, the top 40 music is set to be a choice or selection for the most popular pick on internet radio. This plays songs of different genres that made it to top 40. Jazz, soft rock, country and ballad music are normally played under this selection.

Listening to 80s music is another pick for radio streaming. Pop music was popular in the 80s; although rock music such as glam metal, soft rock and new wave were also popularized in the 80′s. Some of the bands and singers who became famous in this year include Madonna, Rod Stewart, John Lennon, Billy Joel, Sting, Michael Jackson, The Police, Bon Jovi, and Guns N’ Roces. Most of them are still very popular up to this date. Well, in the case of Michel Jackson, his songs are still a hit in the chart.

How listening to music online is changing things

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Sunday 17 October 2010 7:34 am

There are some of us who have a passion for music while there are some who aren’t so inclined to remember band and artist names as passionately as some folks do. For the latter, all they would like to do is listen to the top 40 singles that are normally played on the radio, and be done with it.

For the former, of course, who enjoy listening to specific genres of music in particular, one option would be to buy CDs of their favorite bands or artists while the other option would be to purchase music online in the form of iTunes and so on and so forth.

And as the days go by, and with the losing battle of the big six music labels against piracy, it seems pretty clear that in order for these labels to survive they will have to go digital as well. However, there is one domain that has been left unscathed by piracy and the controversy that continues to plague the music world and that is the world of radio, both conventional and internet radio.

While it is known that the internet now offers most options for listeners to tune into, and for free too, it becomes increasingly important that the continued success of Web 2.0 is capitalized on. As for the big labels, their success solely depends on how they tweak their product for a humungous audience.

The advent of streaming radio

Radio has been a good friend to all of us through the years. It was always that thing you kept switched on in the background and turned whenever a favorite song was played. With the proliferation of the Internet, radio too found a way into it via a format known as streaming radio.

The streaming format enables the transfer of data (which is what music is in its basic format) in little pieces. These pieces are deleted soon after they are played and therefore only a miniscule amount of space is taken at any time to enable radio to come through the internet line. This enables broadcasters and the music industry to not worry too much about music being pirated through this medium, as there is no permanent storage of the data.

Listening to music online has become a rapidly growing pastime, as internet access has become cheaper and easier (e.g. mobile internet).Listening to internet radio free of any of those annoying commercials that you keep hearing on normal radio stations is extremely pleasing. This is one of the reasons why internet radio has become popular. Another reason is the ability to find almost any specialty radio station. Whether you like top 40, techno, reggae, rapcore etc., you can find it easily on the net. The best part is that you don’t have to spend time tuning into anything; all you have to do is search and click on the link you want. It’s as simple as that.

Troubled star Lindsay Lohan is finally out of jail early. Lohan served only 14 days out of her 90 day sentence and is now required to go on a three month stay in a rehab facility.

The actress was released a little after midnight on Sunday and was whisked off to an unnamed rehab facility. Lohan did not walk out of the front entrance and was instead loaded into vehicle inside the jail and taken away. According to paparazzi reports a van with a police escort arrived at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. In previous celebrity incarcerations, the stars have walked out to meet the waiting paparazzi after their release. Paris Hilton in particular was very accommodating of everyone there after her and spoke with the media and high fived the guards outside the Los Angeles Century Regional Detention Facility. The facility has also held Michelle Rodriguez who carried out only 18 days of her 180 day sentence.

Those who are held for non-violent crimes have their sentences reduced significantly, due to their good behavior as well as overcrowding issues. She was arrested for the first time in 2007 when she crashed her car; she was arrested two month later for cocaine possession as well as driving under the influence of alcohol. Despite the setback Lohan is still doing well in her career; she stars in Robert Rodriguez’s “Machete” and in the biopic of porn star Linda Lovelace. Lohan also released a new line of clothing while she was in jail.

Muppets get Pixar help

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Thursday 29 July 2010 9:49 am

Disney is on the verge of green lighting a Muppets movie and is anxious to get things right. In this regard, they are going the same way they went with the upcoming release of “Tron Legacy” and have enlisted the help of Pixar.

Pixar has an exemplary record when comes to movie releases. Every single movie has been nothing short of financial success. Even rarely, every movie has been found favorable by all critics. Add to this the fact that Pixar keeps winning Oscars and you can see why Disney is so intent on keeping its subsidiary involved in important projects.

In the case of “Muppets“, Disney called on part of Pixar’s “Brain Trust”. Pixar president Ed Catmull and filmmakers Michael Arndt, Brad Bird, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter, Bob Peterson and John Lasseter made themselves available for the consultation. Muppets director James Bobin, producers Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman and the movie’s lead star Jason Segel participated from Disney’s side.

The reach out to Pixar may be viewed as a sign of desperation or brilliance, but whichever it is it happens to be the right one. Recently, Disney movies have had a rough time at cinemas with “Prince of Persia” and the nesest release “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” not delivering to expectations. Both those movies and two others (“When in Rome,” “The Last Song“) were projects that were begun by the previous administration. Therefore the new administration, it appears, wants to prove a point.

So far Pixar and Disney have not commented on the outcome of the meeting.

90s music – A change of seasons

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Wednesday 21 July 2010 7:03 am

While the eighties was all about glam rock that included long hair, riveting guitar solos, melodic vocals, 90s music brought gems like Kurt Cobain, Metallica and a blast of bands that brought on the thrash metal era while pop music also changed from the synth-pop sounds of the eighties.

Almost every glam band disappeared during this era except for the phenomenon now known as Guns N Roses. And their story has continued on into the New Millennium with no band receiving as much attention as this band has.

Talk radio fueled the fire, with interviews speaking of gossip amongst both factions of Gnr while the whole nation went into shock as Kurt Cobain committed suicide. All in all, there was some spice when it came to the music scene of nineties.

It was only in the late nineties that class acts such as Mr. Big and Van Halen among other bands began to resurface to play new material, and the radio was there once again to give us all the latest news while streaming radio did their bit too, for those who lived outside the United States.

Now, with the internet in full flow, not only can listen to interviews, listen to band songs from the nineties but also read bios and watch rockumentaries of these bands as well.

And why not, a little walk down memory lane never hurts anyone.

Weeks of Jail Time for Lindsay Lohan

Posted by publisher | Entertainment | Tuesday 20 July 2010 2:41 am

Actress Lindsay Loahn will be spending several weeks of jail time as her punishment in violation of her probation for DUI. The said facility where she will be locked in is located far away from Hollywood – inside a commonplace two storey structure which stands next to a busy road inside an industrial area. The actress is to start her sentence on July 20 at the unwelcoming 16-year old prison in Lynwood California called the Century Regional Detention Facility located downtown southern Los Angeles. Lohan is said to be housed inside the 2,200-bed structure’s special needs area, where she is to live alone for her well-being.

Because of jail overcrowding and the program that gives credit to the inmates for their good behavior, nonviolent female law offenders such as Lindsay Lohan would usually serve about 25% of their sentenced jail time according to Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles’ County Sheriff Department. This would mean that Lohan’s 90-day jail time could be cut to approximately 3 weeks, which is actually the time for the advance screening of the movie “Machete”, which opens September 3 wherein Lohan plays as nun. This is not the first time that the actress has been to jail. It can be recalled when Lohan spent 84 minutes of lockup in this same facility in 2007 for the same crime – DUI.

The sentence was reduced from the original one day lockup period due to jail overcrowding. During the sentence, she was fingerprinted, searched and locked in bars but the officials have allowed her to keep her street clothes on.
