 Every day the world is becoming more and more connected through music.  There is free music available on the web, CDs are being bought and sold all over the world, thanks to iTunes and other online programs people can download their favorite songs instantly to their phones, or iPods, or car radios.     

Somehow, no matter what is going on in a person’s life, or in the world, the magic of music can bring people together, and somehow make people understand that although everyone is different, everyone is human, with love and joy and hurt and pain.  It is an amazing thing

In today’s world, the internet allows artists to reach millions and millions of people in ways they once were unable too. Musicians and bands have ways to release music over the internet to garner attention without ever having to be signed to a major label. There are a number of popular social media outlets that will allow you to market, stream and release your music to millions of people every day. Video streaming sites such as YouTube are essential. Not only can you be heard by millions of consumers but seen as well. This is huge for new upcoming bands and a great way to start to get a following.

For a musical artist today being signed to a major label and having CD’s or even albums released does not necessarily mean success and profit. Fans need a way to easily access your music online. A new artist’s best bet is to release their first single to fans for free online. This will say a lot about you and your music to new listeners. It is the best way to garner respect, and be seen as an artist who is not in the business for the wrong reasons. This will give unlimited access to millions of people all over the world, promoting you and your band in a way that was not always possible.

In return for releasing free music on the internet, you will not only get fans but a great reputation. This will in turn get more people to buy your music, and attend concerts helping to create profits. The worst thing you can do, as a new artist is boycott internet downloading. Many artists today still do not allow their music to be downloaded even on sites like iTunes. This does not sit well with music fans and as a new artist; it is not a good way to start out.

With just a little bit of creativity, a new band or musician can begin a long-term profitable career by using the internet to their advantage. Releasing free music can promote you all over the world, reaching places and people you never dreamed of. So get your face and music out there, and have the success and career you have always dreamed of.
